Oh come on now. You already have a luxurious handicap spot and I have to park just a bit further.  I need the exercise but you’re still an asshat.

I’d park in that spot.

“outdoor living” proclaiming the label above the ENTRANCE to a massive indoor space.

So, let me get this straight. The BMW can legally park in the handicap spot, has all that space to the left, and still parks over the line? That pisses me off, because it makes people hate the rest of us as a class. We come off looking like we are entitled pricks (TBH, too many of us are) that push our privilege too far.

Know what else pisses me off though? To the left of the BMW you can see the parallel-park style handicap spot the van is in. There is all that space around it, allegedly to give people with big cars and chair lifts, etc. room to unload and load. But it’s way bigger than it needs to be. You could fit several normal handicap spaces in that space. My Sam’s club does this. Reduced parking spaces makes people desperate, which ends up in asshats creating their own spaces in the cross hatched area, which blocks off use of the spots.

I feel better now, thanks.

In all fairness, this person may be quite old. Which fact might lead to avoiding the marked no parking side. At least locally the elderly comprise a large segment of placard owners and park horribly on a regular basis.

If you are too old to park properly, you are also too old to drive.

Im not one to judge disabled parkers not getting it 100%

For all we know something was in the way of their door opening all the way.

Also, look at the size of the parking space still left.. like anyone will have trouble getting in there without plenty of room on either side

I sometimes wish I had a POS beater so I could slide in next to malparkers and not care.

What a bold and absolutely meaningless statement.

Me too! Bu t since it’s angled parking, I wouldn’t back into the space. I’d just pull my truck in like normal, and slide across my handy dandy bench seat to get out.

They have those odd mega parallel spaces at my local Walmart, and I don’t get it either. I often see non-handicap vehicles ignoring the lines and parking over the neighboring crossed-out section... part of me gets silently pissed off at them for parking in what is obviously not a parking space, while the other part of me would rather direct my mild outrage towards whomever designed the parking lot.

The only reasoning I’ve been able to dream up for the massive crossed-out margins is for handicap drivers who are pulling trailers? I guess it’s conceivable, but it still feels like a stretch. I’ve seen exactly zero drivers use it like that.

Me neither. Even the largest pickups don’t need all that room.
